Full cosplay is allowed and encouraged in the event!
We love cosplayers! It’s exciting to see everyone dressed as their favorite characters and playing them out.
To ensure a safe and fun environment for all guests, we do have some groundwork rules to abide by
- Ensure you ask for permission before taking or posing for photographs
- Please do not touch without permission
- Harassment will not be tolerated
- No stealing, griefing or trolling.
- Follow all facility policies, rules, and staff directions.
- No running, climbing, horseplay or unsafe actions outside of designated areas
- Report any and all concerns to venue security or event staff
- Remember to stay hydrated
- Remember to eat something
- Make friends
Security and event staff may inspect any item or costume at any time during the convention. Failure to comply with these policies and/or instructions of the event staff or security personnel may result in immediate removal from the event without refund.
COSTUMES AND WEAPONS
Self-defense, recreational, and utility items such as: knives, tasers, pepper spray, BB guns, cap guns, air-soft, paintball, water guns, and firearms are not permitted, even if lawful to own and carry them.
Items resembling futuristic weapons, fantasy weapons, and non-projectile boffer weapons may be allowed provided they are not handled in an unsafe, threatening, or destructive manner.
All items will be checked at registration for compliance. Permitted items will be safety tied to either make safe or indicate it has been checked. Removal of safety tie may result in removal from the event. Replacements can be found at registration. Prohibited items will be turned away. Gateway to Geekdom will not keep or house items to be picked up later.
20th and 21st century uniforms may not be worn as costumes. This can include security guard, police officer, deputy, paramedic, etc. Active duty military personnel are permitted to wear their government issued uniforms.
Family friendly cosplays only! Overtly graphic, frightening or sexualized cosplays may be turned away. If you are unsure, you can ask event coordinators ahead of time by e-mail, ShowOffice at GatewayToGeekdom.com
LOST AND FOUND
Guest Services will serve as lost and found items during the convention. Unclaimed property will be turned over to the event coordinators after the convention. You can help protect your belongings by including identification tags. Include mobile phone numbers in wallets, purses, backpacks and other loose items. Labeling helps us attempt to return recovered items to their rightful owners. Gateway to Geekdom is not responsible for lost, stolen, damaged, or misplaced items.
